Goodbye and Goodnight, My Darlings

I miss you guys. I miss writing. I miss Simming.
Moral of the story: School sucks.

You know what else sucks? My game.
I really wanted to hold off on saying this, but . . . A couple of days ago, last weekend I believe, I attempted to Sim. Now, as much as I wanted to, I didn't play the Winters. Instead, I started a new file and found that my game was crashing every two to ten minutes.

I know from experience that this only ends one way.

A little glimmer of hope surfaced within me. Maybe it didn't affect the Winters, I thought. I was wrong. In fact, it was worse. I remained resilient though. Every solution that I could find, I tried. This was the focus of my weekend until Sunday rolled around. I knew that things weren't going to change unless I did the inevitable.

I put the Winters save in a different folder and then wiped my entire Sims 3 folder. After starting the game back up and getting all the proper files back, I returned the Winters save to the save folder. On a previous game I played, it didn't work. I could get back into the save, but it would still crash. With the Winters save, I couldn't even access the save. I removed CC, looked for solutions, you name it. Nothing worked. After clicking on the start button, the game would freeze up and crash.

I hate to say it, but this is the end of the Winters. There's nothing I can do now.

I'm not going to stop writing though. In my free time, I've been practicing a lot. I feel as though my writing skills have improved, and hopefully my Sim storytelling skills have improved as well. I will be writing a new story based around fairy tales.

I officially get out of school May 16th, but there will be time before that where it's not necessary to go to school (finals and whatnot). Until then, I'll be working on the neighborhood and getting things ready. I will also be planning and plotting the story.

I'm truly sorry everyone. I wanted the Winters to live, but things were out of my control. I hope those of you following the story will continue to follow and support me and my new story. That would mean the world to me. (:

  1. So sorry to hear that :( Have you tried reinstalling completely? You've got their save, might as well?
Will you post the link to your new story on here? :)

  2. It's very unfortunate--I liked playing the Winters a lot. *nods* I've tried everything there is to try. :/ I'm just fortunate that I didn't get very far along; it could have been a lot worse.

On the other hand, yes, I will. ^^ I'll also be posting it on the forum thread for those who don't follow the blog. Speaking of my new story, if you haven't looked already, I have a few pictures of my neighborhood's families.

  4. I just saw this. D: This is depression. I'm in the same boat right now, and will be giving a similar message to my readers. It's not that my game is freezing, or crashing, but the graphics are all messed up. They aren't appearing right, and until I find a solution...the story is not going to be continued.

Why does it seem like this happens to every Simmer at least....a gazillion times? :<

I'm looking forward to your next story! Can't wait! ^^

  5. Really? D: Wow, that must have put a damper on your day.

I don't think I've ever had graphics-related issues. It's always been crashing for no apparent reason. I do wish you luck though--I would hate to see your stories go.

Blah. I wish I knew. I never had problems with Sims 2, and you would think that by now EA would have most of these issues sorted out, or at least have some possible solutions. :/

Thanks. ^^ I'm looking forward to it myself. I think it's going to be a lot of fun.
